Quiet time from 6/5/2010

Here's a little tid bit from my quiet time today:

"My goodness do I feel like I'm growing so much in Christ lately! I got an unexpected and wonderful message from a new friend today. I can't wait for us to grow closer and to have fun girl times together. No one can and will EVER replace Nicole and Jess from my life once they move away, but I feel like God is being faithful in my prayer request and is setting it up so that I won't be as lonely as I thought I would be once they move...

(Just a side note: I totally plan on having like a million ba-jillion phone dates and doing a TON of road trips to come see you  ladies and I know it won't feel that different but the truth is my love language is quality time and when I don't get that I feel as if something is lacking =P so I'm just a little nervous right now, but it's something I'm definately praying about )

...Thank you for mentors in my life. I think I might be one pathetic excuse for a woman and future wife without them. Thank you again for answering my prayer for major spiriual growth during this time of being engaged just so that Max and I can  really start our marriage off well and be completely devoted to You. Help us to grow closer to becoming more like You everday.

Titus 2:3-5
"Older women teach what is good... that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind being subject to their own husbands..."

Thank you so much Chelsea for the advice ;)

Lingerie Obsession

So can I just admit that I am obsessed with lingerie right now? Like to the point where I am considering selling all of my clothes on eBay and replacing them with super cute lingerie that I have found over the last couple of months. If I didn't have to worry about old man creepers or judgment I would walk around all day, everyday in whatever outfit I wanted. Oh wouldn't that be nice?? I'm gonna be so excited to prance around the house in cute stuff for Max once were married.

Here are some of my favs that I have been staring at incessantly since I have found them:

Loop-de-loop set

Food Journal for this weekend

I know you are so excited to hear about what I ate this weekend (not really) but I feel the need to share. Maybe I feel guilty for eating things I am not supposed to- who knows.

So Friday night I met up with my friend, Jessie for some tea (sorry for all of the parenthesis but I am really LOVING green tea lately!) But before we met I remembered I hadn't eaten dinner yet so I walked past a few shops before stopping at a legit taco shop. Were not talking Fausto's or Roberto's here- I mean legit. Like the kind of place that has mariachi music blasting when you first walk in. The kind of place where the only other people in it are Mexican (mostly construction workers or painters from the looks of their clothes.) The kind of place where the workers can only speak a handful of English phrases. The kind of place that makes me feel inadequate for not being a "real" Mexican and knowing how to carry on a conversation in Spanish or pronounce words to the best of my abilities. But oh well. That didn't stop my shredded beef tacos from being any less delicious.

Saturday's List:
sausage and eggs thanks to an awesome YoungLife breakfast fundraiser. I really wanted to eat some yummy pancakes though.

lunch: A delicious concoction of mushrooms, brown rice, jalapenos, and ground beef. Jello was
a nice dessert after that savory little number.

For dinner Max and I went to Sammy's Woodfire Pizza with his parents(we were
pretty sure the group sitting across from us was a cult. Some tip-offs included one very long-bearded man dressed in all white sitting at the head of the table and every other man at the
table had hair down to his shoulders)where I had a yummy chopped chicken salad and Parmesan crusted artichockes with goat cheese- can you say delish?!

Sunday was a very strange and rare food day for me. So we know I have a gluten allergy and should not eat wheat products for a number of reasons. Do you think this stopped me from going
to Starbucks for lunch and breakfast (even going there is rare for me!) and ordering a green tea and "Reduced-Fat Egg and Turkey Bacon Cheese Breakfast Sandwich?" NO WAY JOSE!! (that's TWO whole EnglishMuffins! Shame on me! My stomach itched so bad after that.) I knew it was bad when I came back for lunch and had memorized what my total would be. But what are you gonna do?

Then right before I left my house to go to the gym with Max and our friend David my dad decided he was going to bring me home chili cheese fries (he never does this!) how could I not eat them. 1. I always pout when he takes my brother out for meals and never brings me back anything (stupid and childish, I know) 2.There's starving children around the world. I just can't waste perfectly good food. Needless to say my tummy wasn't happy with me when I was running that last mile.

After the gym I had a spoonful of peanut butter and around midnight I was starving so I decided oatmeal and dark chocolate (not together, silly) was a better option than fruit snacks. Oh the joys of trying to eat healthy!

Travaux en cours

I am so thankful that God has brought me to the point where he has and to know that I am still a work in progress, but that I have come so far from where I was. I'm not perfect- I'm the complete, polar opposite and for now that is okay. I am just fine being the woman God has created me to be at 21 because I know it will not be the same as who I will be at 25 or 30 or 40 or 60. Life is more exciting that way.

I had a pretty late night last night. What is it about tea and Jessie that always puts me in a good mood? We met at Starbucks (yay for 24 hour Starbucks!) for what only seemed like minutes. Little did I know that once I looked down at my phone it was 1:07 am and it was definately time to go home. But for those few hours we managed to talk about how far we have come in our relationship with Christ, working out, old friends, how awesome love is, how AWESOME our friends Megan and Julie are, the days spent with our dads, and a bunch of random nonsense in between. There are never dull or quiet moments with us because there is always something to chat about, always!

Unfortunately that was not the end of the night for me. I hadn't seen Max all day and wanted to stop by and give him a quick smooch (quick, yeah right) and ended up talking his ear off until 3am. Poor boy! It is so funny to think that me-the girl that he had to pry open to get a decent conversation out of-was now talking his ear off instead. I guess you get what you wish for. I think it's great though and can only be described as God building my character. I had been shut off from the world for so long and so closed off from emotion that God had to bring some crazy hot, Jesus loving, McDonald's fanatic, Steeler's rooting, kind-souled, beautiful-hearted man into my life to make me be able to feel whatever it was I was feeling. Ah love! There's nothing greater.

...And now for my ritual Sunday after-church nap before I clean and plan wedding stuff and get ready for leadership.

P.S.- Answer me this

Why aren't there cake toppers with a Latina brides and a white grooms?? Hmmm? Hmmmmmm??

Lame!

I don't even want a cake topper anymore! =P

High school leader

So tonight I got my first taste of what it was like to lead with my future husband with his high school ministry (Young Life). I have been leading my own club with middle schoolers (Wyldlife) for the past 2 1/2 years and was a club kid when I was in high school, so it's not like the process was anything new to me. Being on the other side of things, however; was completely new and exciting to me. Even though most of the night was spent watching The Chronicles of Narnia (not a regular occurrance, I promise! We actually do really cool studies and talk to students about Jesus) and I got to see one of my best friends, Jessie, in action as the girl leader- the position I am pretty sure I am going to take over after she moves. She has grown so much in the last two years of leading with the high schoolers that it makes me want to grow even closer to God. I want Him to pour wisdom and discernment in me daily so that I may grow closer to Him.
I don't want to even imagine what my life would be like right now if I had never given my life to Christ when I was 16. I would probably be a mom already, an alcoholic, depressed, suicidal, with some form of eating disorder, along with many other horrific qualities that I am so lucky to be nothing like today. Christ never ceases to amaze me in the work that He is doing in my life. I will be the first to admit that I deserve none of it and the only reason I can tell students and non-Chrisitan friends about His love is thanks to what he is done in my life. Jesus is in the business of transforming and I'm so glad He found me!
