Addicted

So, my husband and I had a little date night last night! We saw Scream 4- CHEESY, I know. BUUUT, one of our most favorite things in the whole world is watching movies together. I may be addicted actually- like a drug addict. It's my way of escaping into a world that is not my own that I can drift away slowly to. Well, the good ones at least. (Not, like Scream. We just watch stuff like that for fun.) But seriously, I went to the movies twice last week! I saw Hanna (B) and Scream (B+). And may I just saw that the entire reason that Max and I love the Scream movies is because they admit to the rules that you must follow in order to stay alive and the faux paus  that end people's lives. So clever. And not bad fashion either. Check out these ladies-- so chic!

I heart Neve- she is 37 and looks incredile!

This cutie is definitely up and coming after this performance.

Hayden did a really good job in this movie- I'm not sure how I feel about her haircut though. Kinda cute, but kinda butch...

What did you do over the weekend?

We're leaving the United States!

If you have read past blogs of mine, you may remember my plan to travel the world with my husband.

We plan to alternate between U.S. and International trips every year. I have this silly dream of visiting every state in the U.S. This year we are going to North Dakota to go see Max's grandma who I have never met. Soooo, that means next year we get to leave the U.S.!!!

We have decided on either Italy or Greece.

Any suggestions??

Right now, Greece seems to be winning the race.

Who could resist all of this:

Night Out on the Town

So, I finally left my house for a night on the town this past weekend... and boy did it feel good! I have been such a loner the last few months thanks to school and work and blah, blah, blah...

My best friend, Julie, was in town for one day and she graced me with her presence. I seriously value her friendship more than she will ever know. What about you? Do you have a best friend that lives in another state? Don't you love how you can pick up conversation right where you left off when you last saw them? And how it feels like they never left? I love that.

Anyhow Julie came over my house and took me to Pete's Piano Bar where a bunch of my friends and my man was waiting for me! We had such a good time!

I wore this little number along with this sweater and some brown Chinese Laundry heels =]

How was your weekend? Did you go out or try new recipes or have a nice quiet night indoors?

...Oh yea, my hair is also this length now:

I'll post a picture soon =]

He made me dinner!

Yes, that's right. My wonderful husband made me dinner two nights ago. I can really say that this was so amazing and I had a permanent smile on my face for the whole meal. This was much needed too considering the fact that he is out of town right now. I really freak out when he goes out of town and think he's gonna get in a car accident or something... so a little pampering went a loooong way.

Here's what he made me:

delicious gluten free fusilli pasta with olive oil and chopped basil with delicious steak and caramelized onions!

accompanied with some....

Rex Goliath wine...yum!

The house seriously smelled so awesome when I walked in. I finally understand how grateful Max always says he is that I cook for him. I never understood it before because I really do enjoy cooking so for me it's not that big of a deal. But, let me just say it was so awesome to know that after I got out of my Thursday night class, dinner would be waiting for me at home!

...So last night, my dear friend Megan spent the night with me. Yea I know I'm a baby and couldn't handle being in the house alone BUT we had fun hanging out. We hung out and watched some Food Network and Say Yes to the Dress while eating some snacks. Then we turned in early. I'm so glad she was there to keep me company- I probably would have fell asleep alone, watching TV, with chips in my hand if she wasn't...lol.

....My best friend, Jessie, put this song up on her blog. GO listen to this now! You won't regret it =]

How is your weekend going lovelies?

Any fun plans?

I may go play bingo with some of the gals tonight... wish me luck!

Adieu, jolie!

Top 6 Fashion Trends guys hate to see on women

So, I don't know if any of you guys have seen this recently, but it really made me perceive fashion in a different way.

How would you describe fashion?

To me, I see it as a way to externally "paint" or "sculpt" yourself in a manner that is emotionally pleasing to you.

So what happens when you bring in your boyfriend, husband, or any other joe shmo off the street's opinion of how you look? What does that do to the equation?

Here they are:

six : Socks with sandals

Reason: Men feel the "sexy" factor is taken away when you add socks to sandals/heels.
 Popular: Among indie fashionistas

cinq: Harem Pants

Reason: Guys (along with myself!) feel like this look is not-at-all flattering. I'm sorry but it looks lie you dropped a you-know-what in your pants.
Popular: among chic style queens like Kim Kardashian and Pia (from American Idol).

quatre: Red Lipstick

Reason: Men feel as if the overall kissability factor is gone when a gal wears bright red lipstick. But, I really do love this look! No, I have never been daring enough to try it, but if I was I know that I might not want to kiss anyone either for fear that they'd ruin my fierce red lips. So alas, men- you may admire these hot lips but we don't want you to mess them up!
Popular: among women who want to feel sexy, strong, and stand out!

trois: Jumpsuits

Reason: These looks are very hard to pull off, even if you have an awesome figure.
Popular: among women you want to be comfy but look like they have a "complete" look put together.

deux: Oversized Sunglasses

Reason: I may slightly understand guy's reasoning behind this one- they make us look like bugs....But, so what. We look like cute bugs! I'm not giving this look up anytime soon- not even for my hubby!
Popular: amongst lots of women these days! (And may I add, I am also a huge fan of these because they keep the entire eye area protected from the sun. SO that means less possibility of developing crow's feet due to sun damage!)

un: Ugg Boots

(Stop trying to hide Jessica. We see you!)

Reason: Guys feel again that these are visually unstimulating. I do indeed hate seeing them paired with a mini skirt or short shorts. These are winter boots people, winter boots!!! But I do enjoy when they are paired with cute leggings or jeans =]

Popular: with women that are seeking comfort on their feet

I think the fact that as I have been getting older and caring less about how others view my appearance (I know I'm cute!) I really have stopped taking into consideration about how others may view my sense of fashion. I do it for me, not anyne else. (Except when it comes to dressing "appropriate" and not like a hoochie mama! I only want one man looking at my body so I try not to dress in ways that could conflict with this.)  So my point is dress how you want to-- don't worry about what others may think. We all have our own opinions!

Need to breathe

So being a friend means that sometimes you need to listen to your friends vent!

If you don't want a part of my negative vibes, please stop reading. I wouldn't want to spoil your day =]

...BUT, since you are still reading, here I go.

For those of you that don't know, I am a leader for this amazing ministry called Young Life that reaches out to high schoolers to try and tell them about Jesus. It is so rewarding and awesome, but very hard as well.

My day yesterday consisted of working from 8-5, worrying and stressing all day long at work about my Stats test I just got done taking (I think I did well btw) and the talk about sin I was giving at Young Life club, coming home and getting 15 min to spend with my hubby on the couch watching him play some weird video game, and having to go recite and practice my talk to myself in the mirror in another room, and then off to pick up all my high school friends.

The first girl I picked up, Jessica, is amazing. She is fairly new and is so cute. She dresses just like Kim Kardashian and she turned 15 yesterday. As I pulled up to her house I said a quick prayer for what I was about to do. Jessica had told me the day before that she wouldn't be able to come to camp with us this summer (the MOST fun event of the whole year!) because she got in trouble. So I told her that I would go talk to her dad and try to convince him to change his mind. Welp, I did. And yes, he is a very big intimdating man, but as he talked to me I really agreed with his point of view. He said Jessica had left campus during lunch (which unfortunately is a no, no here in LV) and got caught by a school administrator and got RPC'd and when he confronted her about it she lied. He said he wasn't allowing her to go to camp because that was the one thing she seemed to care about and she would not have minded at all if he took away her phone or laptop. So like I said- he seems like a cool dad, but that was still an awkward situation for me to be in.

So once we got to club, I did my talk in front of the 30 or so kids and felt like a huge boulder had been lifted off of my shoulders. And then I drove all of my girls home. On the way to drop off my last girl she began talking and really almost set me off-- like I almost started yelling at her, but I kept my cool and remained silent until she was done speaking. This girl has been around for a long time and I know she has a relationship with God and is a Christian, but the things that come out of her mouth are so hurtful and against anything Jesus would ever stand for, so I don't know where she stands with most things.

What did she tell me that hurt me so bad? She told me that she favored abortion. I know she is young and easily impressioned, but I just don't get that. She is NOT promiscous, does NOT have a boyfriend, and is NOT sexually active- wtf??? There is NO way that the Jesus that died for her and me and all of us would ever condone killing an innocent baby that had no choice in the matter of being conceived. That baby is a gift (miracle) from God and for any woman to say "Well it's my body and I have the choice," really, really saddens me. She has no more right to choose whether or not that child should come into this world than she had in being brought into the world herself. But of course, any one that does not have a relationship with God would probably not get my ramblings, but its still hurtful.

Have you seen that commercial on TV with Tim Tebow's (player for Denver Bronco's) mom speaking about how she almost aborted him? And have you ever stopped to think about how many women almost went through or thought about getting an abortion, but decided not to at the last minute and ended up with an amazing, intelligent, and precious child. Think about it for a second. What if you were aborted? What if any of our Presidents, Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Theresa, or any other person that has helped this nation was aborted? How awful our world be without those people! Yes no ones life is perfect, but I know that all of us have had amazing moments that make life worth living. Now, think about never being able to have that. Isn't that depressing?

I'm sorry if you don't agree with me on this topic, it just hits very close to home for me.

....SO as you can see my Monday was stressful, and I just needed to vent and take a sec to breathe.

Thanks for reading thos looooooooooooong post!

I love free clothes!

...OK, so these weren't necessarily free, but I didn't have to spend any of my own money on these little numbers so thats FREE to me!

I love the crocheted detailing on this wrap... so fun!

Trying to go along with my nude theme... don't worry I'll be wearing something underneath it. Wouldn't want to go far with the nude theme... hahaha.

I'm a sucker for wraps that go with any kind of outfit =]

This color looked awesome on my skin tone, plus don't you just love those shirts that make your "chest" look good... I know, I do!

I L-O-V-E-D the belt on this sweater so I just had to have it! And who doesn't love lace right??

(Sorry, these are upside down) This long, cotton dress was my perfect find!!! Isn't it SO Lena (Alexis Bledel)  from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants?! Can't you see her wearing this is Greece?

It makes me want to go back to Jamaica!!!!

I was trying to go for pieces that I could wear with anything or easily dress up or down. These navy shorts are casual enough to wear at the beach but definately dress up with a long, silver necklace and those nude pumps from a couple posts ago.

*I also scored some really cute yoga pants for ten bucks, but they're in the hamper right now :)

Happy Friday bonheur (sunshine)!
