So the engagement party went way better than expected. I thought for sure my dad would ruin it by embarrassing me- which surprisingly did not happen. Probably due to all of the prayer that went into it before hand. I just had to remember to not be anxious, but to ask God for it to go smoothly- which it totally did.
The food was DELISH!! We had cheese fondue with veggies, apples, and crackers. There was also meatballs, garlic butternut squash soup, and yummu chicken salad. And for dessert we had chocolate fondue with fruit and my mom brought a cake with a picture of me and Thomas for our birthday. It was so mindblowing to see Max and my family get along and talk and laugh for hours. My future mother in law, Jill, did such a good job! I love her! At the party she pulled me aside and said, "Drea, if I ever had a daughter I would want her to be just like you." OH my gosh, right- SO cute!!
So all of this food was amazing and I felt so pretty wearing my black dress my mom had bought me that day, but what made it even better was the gifts! I'm getting married and turned 21 that night- and I get gifts on top of everything else?! I'm SO grateful and blessed. Max's aunt Joni got me a cute Lolita martini glass that said 21 all over it along with cute post it notes that said "Wedding To-Do List" on the top of it, and Nicole and Ben gave me a book "The Honeymoon of your Dreams" and the best gift of the entire night came from Jill and Mike. They got me pearls!! Pearl earrings with a pearl necklace and a pearl bracelet! The thought of crying that night had only entered my mind if my dad had ended up ruining the night, but at the moment I opened their gift tears swelled in my eyes. It was the perfect night. Having my whole family there and them getting along with Max's family was the only thing I could have ever asked for.
