Something more...

After some meeting with my friend, Monique, for some Pumpkin Spiced Lattes (SO happy they're back!) I feel a bit uneasy. We talked about Young Life and leading high school girls to know Jesus. Mo also told me about her recent mission trip to Nicaragua. My heart is thirsting to leave this country and go on a mission. I want to fade away from this life that is so easy, full of instant gratification, and self fulfilling. I want to know what it is like to not know where my next meal is going to come from. I want my faith to be tested strongly so that the only choice I have to is have unrelentless faith in my God. I want to grow this way.

  1. Do it. Break free from the rut of society, from the flawed American Dream and run to Jesus. Run to Him, Dre. :D

I feel like living in America is too easy. It's too easy for us to lump ourselves into the category of "Christian" simply by default, without ever knowing God, without ever crying out for Him to Lord over us and change our entire being. We're content in our pursuits of pleasure.

The greatest blessing to the American church (I believe) is true persecution. Suffering calls us to question ourselves, our motives, what's important...

For those who call wearing a Jesus t-shirt being a Christian, persecution pushes them to make a choice. Either stand up for Christ and suffer as He did or realize where you stood all along... falsely praising the Lord like some social club chant.

    I say, run to Him.

I say step out, break free, and live like salvation matters.

    Love you Dre :)

  2. Thanks Jess, i love you too! I've unfortunately been feeling so sad about the state of mind most people in my age group are in. I just don't see how people can live for the certain things they live for and strategically choose to be apart from Jesus... it just breaks my heart. I feel like in order to become more like Him I need to endure a life similar to what He lived.

  3. I understand.
In Vegas, living for Christ is extremely challenging. Like I said before, it's easy for people, especially us young folk, to say we're Christian by default but then pursue our own pleasures...

America is full of distractions, distractions that will lead many straight to hell.
In Vegas, even Christians get pulled into these pursuits.

Also, many people are "Christians" by tradition, or because they like "belonging" to a church or ministry... it's a social thing.
Many of them don't even know the truth, let alone, stand up for it.

I say, if you want to endure a life similar to Jesus, then pursue Him fully. Strive to understand the gospel and the depth of it. Study theology, apologetics... know your faith and proclaim it boldly.

If you're truly proclaiming the Word of God, you'll face persecution, trust me. You will suffer. The things of this world will slowly be stripped away.
    Even in Las Vegas.
You can walk like Jesus in today's Babylon...
    I say, do it.

P.S. - if you want any reading suggestions or anything... let me know! <3
